Melissa Walker-Scott - Designer

Melissa is a native Californian and an avid photographer.  A born fashionista and collector of vintage clothing and funky fabrics, Melissa became frustrated after going clothes shopping for her daughter and wading through aisles of Dora, Princess, tacky pink and some of the bland mall fodder offered by typical clothing stores, realizing that the clothes were of low quality and lacking in style.

Something must be done, she thought.  Half a continent away, her talented cousin was putting the finishing touches on a vintage-inspired dress as a gift for Melissa’s daughter.
After witnessing the reaction from friends and strangers, Melissa and Laurie joined forces to create a new clothing company dedicated to bringing timeless fashion and quality to a new generation… Kid Vintage.

Laurie Makowski - Designer
Laurie is from Winter Park, Florida and sewing is her life.  She started sewing in High School and never looked back.  Laurie’s mother was a professional seamstress and had learned from her grandfather, a professional tailor. 

”I started actually enjoying sewing after I had children.  I loved making unique clothes for my kids.  We always had photos taken with matching outfits, although now I look back at some of the photos and shake my head - the rust orange striped suit I'd made for my husband in the 70's... could it be vintage? Now I have a granddaughter, and I'm back doing what I love… making fabulous clothes!
